Australian born Houston, initially photographed over fifty of New York’s leading dancers in 2001 and 2002, in a dynamic photographic essay. The striking images then became part of Houston’s fourth book, MOVE, which followed his highly acclaimed books, RAW, RAWMOVES, and and ONE, which was released in 2005 to benefit Breast Cancer.
MOVE FOR AIDS launched in New York City in October 2006 with an exhibition and book signing at MILK Gallery. The event was hosted by Hugh Jackman, who also wrote the book’s foreword. A screening of the documentary film on ‘the making of MOVE’ was also debuted. The launch was a great success and raised money for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS. The strong publicity received in New York set the stage for the following launches in London and Sydney.

The London launch was hosted by Ms Elle Macpherson and Mr David Furnish to benefit the Elton John AIDS Foundation. Over 500 ticketed guests attended including some of London’s A-List: Kevin Spacey, Natalie Imbruglia, and Jade Jagger. The MOVEFOR AIDS Exhibition then followed at the Getty Image Gallery.

Building on the success of the New York and London launches, MOVE FOR AIDS then traveled to Sydney to coincide with World AIDS Day. The event, held at spectacular Norman Foster Hall, was hosted by Sarah Murdoch and was attended by Sir Elton John and Baz Luhrmann. Proceeds raised in Sydney benefited The AIDS Trust of Australia. Over 650 guests attended the glamorous event, which was named ‘The Event of the Year’ by Sydney Confidential.
